Our Goals:

1. To provide faculty, staff, students, and community members a learning experience about autism.

2. To disseminate information on the various current intervention approaches in the treatment of autism, as well as note what interventions are currently being used by local families.

3. To act as a resource for interventions that are not available in the community.

4. To give faculty, staff, students, and other professionals an opportunity to access parents and parent panels who have children with autism to answer questions in order to broaden each person's knowledge base of autism and related diagnoses.

5. To help build a network of EKU faculty, staff, support staff, parents, students, those diagnosed with autism, and other professionals to act as a forum to replace old biases and inaccurate myths regarding autism with current knowledge and explanations through speaking, writing, publishing, news media, and any other form of communication.

Footnote:

"What an enriching experience it is to get to know someone with autism! To get to know these folks will enlighten what you know about yourself and about the wonder of humankind. To me it is fascinating to discover how the human brain works. I would never have had the opportunity to see this if my son's brain did not have a few glitches. Yes, his brain works; it just works differently. Each day I learn something new. Come join us on our fascinating experience of real life."
