Using Money

We use money to buy things that we want or need. Money can come in paper bills or in coins. When a store person or a cashier tells us how much money we need to pay, we have to choose which bill or coins to use. Sometimes it is hard to decide which coins or bill to use to pay for something we want to buy.

This computer lesson will help practice giving the correct bill to a store person. This is how you can use the lesson.

1. You will see a picture of something that someone might want to buy. You will see the price of the item.

2. You will see some bills ($1, $5, $10, and $20).

3. You should use the mouse to click on the bill that is MORE THAN and CLOSEST TO the price of the item.

EXAMPLE: If the item costs $4.00, a $5 bill is MORE THAN $4.00 and is CLOSEST TO $4.00. You should click on the $5 bill.

4. If you do not click on the bill that is the best choice, you can go back and try again. This is OK. If you need help, ask a grown-up or other helper.

5. When you do click on the best choice bill, you can see a surprise and try another lesson. Good job.

6. You can practice using the best choice bill when you go to restaurants or stores. Ask your parents, teacher, or other helper to help you practice.
